What if I told you that you don’t need to work for someone else to achieve your dreams? That you can create your own destiny?

This is a lesson we can learn from none other than Allyson Felix (@allysonfelix)—the most decorated Track & Field Olympian in history. A nine-time Olympic medalist. Six-time Olympic Champion. World Record Holder.

Her journey is a testament to the power of authenticity and determination. She didn’t settle for anything less than her dreams. She pushed through barriers, broke records, and created her own destiny.

She proved her worth and dedication, yet when she decided to have a baby, Nike offered her 70% less to renew her contract. Instead of settling and focusing her energy on complaining or swimming in a victim mentality, she turned the NO from Nike into a YES for herself. Post-baby, she won additional medals and created her own running shoes.

There will always be those who are biased against you; who don’t believe in you. You can’t control that. What you CAN control is your believe if yourself. Use your energy to invest in yourself instead of seeking validating from external sources or settling.

Think about times in your past when you embraced your authentic self and refused to settle. How did that work out for you? What’s keeping you from doing that again?

It’s not always about climbing the corporate ladder. Sometimes, it’s about building your own ladder and defining your own success.
