🔥 In the realms of federal, nonprofit, and higher education sectors (which is where I primarily serve), we’re often cocooned in a sense of mission-driven security. The reality is no industry is immune to the tides of transformation. If you’re catching whispers of downsizing, restructuring, or layoffs, remember, where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire.

🚢 As a career consultant and strategic human resources professional, I’ve navigated these choppy waters alongside many leaders and peers. I’ve served as an advisor on change management teams. I helped federal clients find new jobs after being restructured into roles they couldn’t stand. I will never forget the one person in particular that I worked with who supervised 4 people and was restructured into a role supervising 11, without a pay increase or title change. It happens… 🫠

My advice? 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. It’s not about pessimism; it’s about preparedness.
