Here’s one BIG mistake I’ve seen my clients make when it comes to getting a job they enjoy and increasing their income…

😓 They just want a more effective resume and that’s it. I get it. They have an acute need for a job and want to focus on their resume. A resume is it the best place to start.

There are plenty of resume writers who would be happy to take their money for a nice resume, but I have found that often doesn’t truly serve the job seeker.

✨ The first step to joy and financial freedom is to take charge of your career. Understand who you are and why. Understand your own personal mission statement. Think deeply about how you can help solve one of the many problems plaguing the world. To reflect on your strengths, goals, and priorities. THEN we craft a new resume that will attract these kinds of jobs.

When people jump straight to the resume without the meaningful pre-resume discernment, they end up in a job they *needed* – but it’s not the job they *wanted*.

The type of job someone can get without doing the deep work, often is not a job they can see themselves retiring from, getting meaningful work, or that pays well enough to set them up for wealth. This is why some don’t last long at their jobs. 3 months, 6 months – perhaps a year or so.

It’s much harder to find meaning and joy in a job when you’re there primarily just for the paycheck. You work a lot. Don’t you want MORE from your job than a paycheck and healthcare (if you’re lucky)? And these same folks struggle to get promotions because being ‘good’ at your job isn’t enough.

If you’re not energetically aligned with the job or find it meaningful, people notice. Not only that, but its harder to be great at a job you don’t even really like. This mistake causes folks to waste time and energy.

✨ If you haven’t been able to find a job that brings you joy and pays you well, that’s an indicator that you could benefit from professional help.

The longer you wait, the more time passes where you’re not happy and not growing and you’re leaving money on the table because your resume doesn’t do you justice or you’re not effectively negotiating.

Taking charge of your career is at the root of self-care. We spend SO much time and energy at work. Investing in your career can literally change your life. Investing in your career can help you secure a job that connects to your values, priorities, and financial goals.

It’s critical to get paid for the value you bring. Increasing your income reduces a TON of stress.

It also brings more joy because you have the income to help your loved ones, go on vacation, donate to causes that matter to you, do fun things that cost money, and enjoy life more.

Once you have a job you enjoy with great money coming in – then you save to invest.

Real estate investing is my favorite way to invest my extra money!

But you can’t get extra money if you’re being underpaid and overworked.

✨ If you’re being paid “good”, but there’s no resources or room to grow, that’s not a great career situation to be in, either.

My most successful clients work with me multiple times throughout their careers.

First, they come to me for career exploration and help with getting a better job and salary.

Then, they come back again when they are applying for a promotion at their current job or when they are jumping ship to something different.

After I help them upgrade their careers and/or side-hustles a few times. Then they get to the point where they have extra money to invest.

They come back again because they want to go from financial independence to financial freedom.

They enjoy their work, but are ready to be less beholden to their employer. Specifically, they are ready to be less reliant on an employer for their income.

In short, they want to be able to work on their own terms and not feel “trapped” by corporate America.

It means they can also be very discriminate in the type of jobs they will accept. If an employer isn’t giving them a good deal, that’s fine as they have other income and options that give them the freedom not to be desperate.

✨ Can you imagine how powerful you will feel when you can say YES to job opportunities you love and instead of feeling like you have to “take whatever you can get”?

At this stage, my clients come back to me again. I teach them how to leverage real estate to grow their wealth and increase their cash flow every month.

What I appreciate about real estate investing is that it’s simple, stable, and tried and true.

Andrew Carnegie, billionaire industrialist said, “Ninety percent of all millionaires become so through owning real estate. More money has been made in real estate than in all industrial investments combined. The wise young man or wage earner of today invests his money in real estate.”

Marshall Field, entrepreneur said, “Buying real estate is not only the best way, the quickest way, the safest way, but the only way to become wealthy.”

Armstrong Williams, entrepreneur said, “Now, one thing I tell everyone is to learn about real estate. Repeat after me: real estate provides the highest returns, the greatest values, and the least risk.”

Even without the above fancy quotes – I STILL believe that real estate is the easiest and most profitable way to build wealth and be financial free. I know it is because I have done it myself and for my advanced clients.
